John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs that he wrote, many of them situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his new home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. Denver is a symbol of the state to people around the world. On my trips I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado the first words they'll use are Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads, co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had written the song with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew the song would be an instant hit in the top 10. After performing the song at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer made a recording a few days from now.
